Obama hosts third LGBT Pride reception of his presidency at White House

Last Friday, President Obama hosted the third LGBT Pride reception of his presidency at the White House to honor national Pride month.

Just weeks after becoming the first US president in history to publicly support the freedom to marry for same-sex families, President Obama again said that he and the first lady have “made up their minds” when it comes to marriage equality.

The president additionally highlighted several policies passed by his administration that impart the LGBT community, including the Matthew Sheppard hate crimes act and features of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that prevent private market insurance companies from denying patients coverage on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
